ALISSA HUELSMAN-BELL

Welcome!

I am currently working on my Masters degree in Instructional Technology at the University of Georgia. I hope to graduate in Fall of 2002. I earned my undergraduate degree from UGA in Middle School Education in 1990. My areas of concentration were in Language Arts and Science.

For the last eleven years, I have been a 6th grade teacher in a local middle school. I taught Language Arts and Science for 5 years in a regular classroom setting. Then I taught Accelerated Language Arts for 4 years, working with mostly gifted and high performing students. I spent 3 of those years also collaborating with Science and Social Studies teachers to plan differentiated activities for gifted students in the regular classroom.

This year I am teaching accelerated language arts and reading half time. I am spending a lot of time using technology as a writing tool with my students. I've developed ways to integrate such tools as Inspiration, Timeliner, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Word into my teaching of writing. I also developed a new web site that my students and I use daily to get us through the trials and tribulations of reading and language arts.

I hope that my continuing course work will help me to find ways of meeting the technology challenges that my colleagues, students, and I face on a daily basis.
